Breast Uplift Surgery (Mastopexy)

A Mastopexy procedure which modifies the size, contour and elevation of the breast which may appear sagged.

Many women are happy with the size of their breasts but would prefer a firmer, more pert shape. Some women also find that their breasts lose the firmness and shape of youth as a result of pregnancy, a change in weight, or simply the ageing process.

To ensure the best results, your consultant plastic surgeon will make a careful assessment of your body to decide the best options with you.

The procedure:

·         During the uplift procedure the consultant surgeon will remove excess skin and tissue by creating a cut around the areola (dark part of around the nipple) as well as an incision vertically below this area. This will tighten the surrounding skin.

·         The breasts will then be re-shaped and the nipple repositioned to a natural level. Scarring will fade significantly with time. This operation can be combined with breast augmentation to achieve a fuller result if needed.

The operation will be performed under a general anaesthetic and you will need to stay in hospital for 1-2 nights. When it's time for you to leave hospital, you will be given a follow up appointment with your consultant, and/or the dressing clinic for the removal of any stitches, together with any medication prescribed.

Breast uplift (Mastopexy) patients are recommended to have a week off work to allow time to rest and recover comfortably at home. Any strenuous work or activity should be avoided for at least three weeks.
