Mr Coombes has a broad experience in Oral and Maxillofacial. His specialist clinical interests include:
Oral Surgery -wisdom teeth removal, mouth biopsies and dental implants.
Skin Surgery - cosmetic mole removal and skin cancer surgery of the head neck and face. Mr Coombes also has a specialist interest in the surgical treatment of skin cancer of the head, neck and face and is a designated member of the multidisciplinary specialist skin unit at the Queen Victoria Hospital.
Head and Neck Surgery - salivary gland surgery including diagnosis and management of head and neck lumps.
Facial Trauma and Reconstruction - surgical treatment of injuries to the face including scar revision.
Aesthetic Surgery - nose reshaping and eyelid surgery. Non Surgical facial aesthetic treatments including anti-wrinkle treatments.
Darryl Coombes undertook training in both Dental Surgery and Medicine at King's College Hospital, University of London, qualifying in Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1993 and in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 2000. Following general surgical training he undertook specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at major UK centres in the South East of England, including the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
Mr Coombes is a fully accredited specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery: he holds a Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Dental Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was appointed as an NHS Consultant at the Queen Victoria Hospital in October 2008.
He is an associate editor for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was recently made a Knight of the Order of St John in Malta for medical services to Malta.
