James Ritchie was educated in London and qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’s Medical School in 1995. He subsequently undertook his orthopaedic training in the South-East Thames programme and obtained the FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2004. He undertook his sub-specialist fellowship in Foot and Ankle surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore and was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon to Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 2005. His NHS practice is based in Tunbridge Wells but includes clinics in Sevenoaks, East Grinstead and Crowborough.

Mr Ritchie is a fully accredited specialist in foot and ankle surgery. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedics, FRCS (Tr & Orth) and is on the specialist register of the General Medical Council. He is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He is committed to medical education and teaches regularly on courses on foot and ankle surgery such as at Guy’s Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore.

As a trauma surgeon Mr Ritchie treats a wide range of fractures and soft tissue injuries of the limbs and also works regularly with plastic surgical colleagues in the management of complex lower leg injuries in people from across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

He is committed to teaching and runs the Foot and Ankle section of the South East Thames Higher Surgical Programme, based at Guy’s Hospital. He is regularly asked to lecture at both national and international conferences for foot and ankle surgeons.

He is a fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons, The British Orthopaedic Association and also holds an executive post in The British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
