I am a general Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in skin cancer surgery and management as well as skin surgery in general. I also have a medico-legal practice.
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1977, and obtained a thorough grounding in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Urology in Glasgow and York. I worked as a prosector in the anatomy department of the Edinburgh Surgical College. I moved to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge in 1983 to begin specialist training and obtained my Registrar training in London, at both South-west and North-east Thames regional centres.
I was appointed Senior Registrar in Sheffield in 1987. After obtaining my accreditation in plastic surgery I spent six months at the University of Bordeaux as a microsurgical fellow, followed by six months in the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, performing oncological surgery primarily of the head and neck. I was appointed to my current post at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead in May 1991.
I served as Lead Clinician in the Plastic Surgery Department for over five years, chaired the Queen Victoria Hospital Consultants' Committee and was Deputy Medical Director of the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust. I am currently an examiner in the intercollegiate MRCS examination at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
