Mr Simon Monkhouse is a Consultant Upper GI, Laparoscopic and Weight Loss Surgeon. He provides the full range of upper GI emergency and elective services including gastric bands, endoscopy, gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery and anti-reflux surgery. All procedures are carried out using the laparoscopic “key-hole” approach. Patient safety and experience are his top priorities.
Mr Monkhouse studied at the University of Cambridge and was awarded prizes for academic distinction. He trained in surgery in the South West of England and was awarded “Trainee of the Year” in 2010. He is well published in the scientific literature and has presented his work internationally. After training, he spent time in Newcastle doing a dedicated bariatric surgery fellowship. Professional memberships include the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (ALS), the Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS) and the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS).
Outside of work, he is happily married with two young sons
