Chin Liposuction

Chin liposuction is a surgical procedure which improves the shape of your chin by getting rid of stubborn fat deposits which create the appearance of a double-chin. The surgery is often carried out in conjunction with other facial procedures, such as: facelifts, neck lift or lower neck lifts.

What does Chin Liposuction Involve?

Chin liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure and follows similar surgery path to other liposuction procedures. Local anaesthetic is applied to the selected areas to help with the healing and minor pain experienced post-surgery. A very small incision is then made in the selected area, and a small, hollow tube (known as a cannula) is used to safely remove the fat from the selected area.

What are the Benefits of Chin Liposuction?

Chin liposuction is predominantly viewed as a cosmetic surgery as the benefits are entirely aesthetic. Chin liposuction is used to help transform the appearance of a patient’s chin, jaw or jawline in order to improve the symmetry and proportions of the face. It is not uncommon for this type of procedure to be partnered with rhinoplasty, as changing the shape of your chin or jaw may impact the perceived appearance of your nose. However, this is entirely subjective and rhinoplasty is not compulsory. Alternatively, if you’re looking to add projection to your chin, your surgeon may suggest silicone implants.

How Much is Chin Liposuction?

As chin liposuction is rarely performed in isolation, it is likely that the cost will be incorporated into the price of another treatment. You are best placed to select a plastic surgeon who specialises in facial surgery, or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is also able to perform facial cosmetic surgery. These surgeons are:

  • Charles Nduka
  • Siva Kumar
  • Nora Nugent
  • Marc Pacifico
  • TC Teo
  • Darryl Coombes

All consultants at The McIndoe Centre are fully accredited and are on the specialist register of the General Medical Council. A number of our consultants who specialise in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery are also members of leading professional bodies such as BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons) or BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons).

As this is an elective surgery, it’s unlikely that it will be covered by your insurance. However, The McIndoe Centre are able to help with financing chin liposuction. For more information on our payment process, please call us on 01342 488054.

Chin Liposuction Aftercare

As this is a minimally invasive procedure and only involves one small incision, scarring is almost non-existent. You can expect some very minor swelling and bruising, but this is to be expected and is simply part of the healing process. You can expect a full recovery a few days, with only minor bruising left in certain areas. After a week, it’s highly unlikely anyone will notice you’ve had anything done.
