Ear Correction (pinnaplasty)

If you have suffered from confidence issues as a result of large or protruding ears, ear correction is the perfect solution to make you feel good, both inside and out.

Why You Might Need Ear Correction

Protruding or imbalanced ears, or ears that are out of proportion with other facial features can be a source of embarrassment for many people. Ear correction offers clear and very rewarding results.

What Does Ear Correction Involve?

The operation is quick and can be performed under a local or general anaesthetic. Small incisions will be made in the natural crease behind the ear, through which your consultant surgeon will reshape or remove the cartilage. The ear is then stitched back into place in your preferred position.

Some complications can include unsightly scarring in and around the ear, as well as pain, bleeding, and infection.

You will be able to go home on the same day of your operation, at which point you will be given a follow-up appointment with your consultant and the dressing clinic, for the removal of any stitches, together with any medication prescribed. You will need to stay at home for a week to recover and heal comfortably, avoiding any strenuous work or activity for at least four weeks.

It will be necessary to wear bandages around your ears for a week after surgery, and smaller bandages for a few weeks after that. This will ensure the natural healing process happens as quickly and effectively as possible.
