Face Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction treatments remain one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world, with almost 250,000 people having undergone surgery last year. Face lifts (often performed in conjunction with face liposuction) also saw a total surpassing 125,000 procedures last year.

Liposuction should be seen as a treatment for removing stubborn fat pockets, not a cure for obesity. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercising will ensure that the results of all liposuction procedures last longer.

What is Face Liposuction?

Face liposuction is a popular cosmetic treatment that looks to enhance the appearance of your face by removing unwanted fat. This includes shaping the skin around your face to improve the appearance of your jawline and the symmetry of your face.

There are several different techniques that can be used to achieve a more youthful face, and no single technique works for all patients. Each face liposuction procedure is tailored to a patient’s specific requirements, but this will be discussed in detail during your surgical consultation.

Face liposuction is one of the most successful cosmetic procedures for removing fat and enhancing the appearance of your face. Patients are reminded that face liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss, nor can it treat cellulite or stretch marks.

Additionally, face liposuction is commonly combined with other surgical procedures to offer a more harmonious, natural-looking result. This is by no means compulsory but it is worth discussing with your surgical consultant during your in initial consultation.

What does Face Liposuction Involve?

Your treatment begins with a consultation with your selected surgeon at The McIndoe Centre. This is where you will be able to ask any questions surrounding your face liposuction procedure and learn more about the treatment process. Your surgeon will make markings on your face to help guide the surgery and also give you an indication of where the fat will be removed from and how you can expect your face to look post-surgery.

Small incisions are made around the face and a probing device (known as a cannula) is used to break up fat deposits in your face. A vacuum is used in conjunction with the cannula to remove the fat from your face. Your incisions are then sewn up and left to heal. If loose skin is present, it’s likely you will need to combine your face liposuction procedure with a mini facelift, but this can be discussed during your consultation.

Note: each patient will experience a different liposuction treatment depending on their individual requirements. No liposuction treatment is the same and no single technique works for all patients.

How Long does Face Liposuction Take?

The treatment time for face liposuction depends on the extent of your surgery. For example, if there are stubborn pockets of fat located within your face, treatment is likely to take longer. Typically, most face liposuction procedures take between one and two hours. However, this will be discussed in detail during your initial consultation.

How Much is Face Liposuction?

The price of your surgery depends entirely on your specific requirements. You will be given a price after your surgeon has assessed your face during your consultation.

Choosing your Surgeon

Choosing your surgeon is one of the most important parts of your liposuction journey. Liposuction procedures are very personal, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with your decision and your chosen surgeon.

It is unlikely that your face liposuction procedure will be covered by your insurance as it is considered an elective surgery. However, The McIndoe Centre are able to help with financing your face liposuction treatment.

All consultants at The McIndoe Centre are fully accredited and are on the specialist register of the General Medical Council. A number of our consultants who specialise in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery are also members of leading professional bodies such as BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons) or BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons).

Face Liposuction Aftercare

You will be fitted with support and compression bandages after your surgery. This is to ensure that the swelling and bruising is minimised and generally accelerates your recovery process. Full recovery time ranges from patient to patient, but full recovery is expected to be between four to five weeks.

What are the Benefits of Face Liposuction?

Face liposuction achieves good results in the hands of an experienced surgeon. Removing fat and potentially excess skin from your face will leave you looking healthier and more youthful. Combining this procedure with a mini facelift or other related procedures will further enhance the appearance of your face. This is something you can discuss during your consultation.

Remember: Liposuction cannot be used to treat or remove cellulite, stretch-marks or used as a treatment to tackle obesity or a weight-loss alternative. If your surgeon believes you are not an appropriate candidate for a liposuction procedure because of any of these reasons, they may refuse to operate.
