Professional profile

John is a Consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon who considers his job to be about helping people to achieve a better quality of life by an understanding of their problems and a thoughtful application of surgical techniques..

John was born and educated in Suffolk, and in 1986 he started his medical training at Guy’s Hospital in London.

After completing his general surgical training he was appointed to the Thames Regional Specialist Training Programme in Plastic Surgery.

He is fully trained in the UK and on the specialist register of the General Medical Council. He is a member UKAAPS (UK Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons).  He attends international meetings annually to bring the best techniques and inovations to his busy practice.

John was a full time Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead NHS trust, before reducing his NHS commitment to spend more time treating patients in his own practice . He has operated at McIndoe for 20 years as a Consultant making him one of the longest serving and most experienced Consultant Surgeons on the staff.

His subspecialty interests are Cosmetic Surgery of the face, brow, neck and eyelids as well as Cosmetic surgery of the breast and abdomen.  He has a mix of male and female patients in his practice. John also treats migraine sufferers with Botox injections and selected surgical procedures where indicated.

John believes in a straight forward friendly approach, an honest discussion of likely outcomes, and providing safe and effective surgery at a competitive cost.  Undergoing any form of surgery is a big decision to make and John believes in helping his patients make the right decisions and then supporting them throughout their journey from admission to discharge.

John has been involved in many radio and television programmes including Sky’s Extreme Makeover and My Naked Secret and CH4’s popular Embarrassing Bodies show.
