What does liposuction involve?
The process permanently removes fat cells from problem areas. During the procedure, a small incision is made in the specific area through which a thin tube, connected to a pump, is inserted. The surgeon will then manoeuvre the tube to break up and suck away unwanted fat cells.
The procedure can be performed under either local or general anaesthetic, depending on your personal preferences and the size of the affected area. A follow-up appointment for the removal of stitches is usually required, though small areas of liposuction can be performed in the outpatient department.
