Hair loss is very common and can affect both men and women. Approximately 30 to 50% of men are affected to varying degrees. With the latest advances; our surgeons are now able to transplant hair follicles from one part of the body to the bald area while preserving their growth physiology and anatomy.
Hair transplant surgery is a permanent solution which means that transplanted hair follicles will survive and grow as healthy hair once did in that area.
Why you might need hair transplant surgery
Men are most likely to suffer from hair loss, while women are also affected. Balding can result in loss of confidence in one’s appearance, which hair transplant surgery can help to regain.
What are the benefits of hair transplant surgery?
The procedure transplants units of hair that will continue to grow as normal onto thinning and balding areas.
Some of the benefits include:
What does hair transplant surgery involve?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. Our surgeons have adopted the method of anaesthesia devised by the world renowned Dr. Akaki Tsilosani, a member of the international hair restoration society. A procedure which makes the slow process of hair transplantation virtually painless.
Most importantly, the anaesthesia will last about eight hours, and the use of this method has remarkably reduced the postoperative oedema. Our custom built micro-surgical tools ensure each follicular unit of hair is precisely removed one by one with no extra tissue or damage to the surrounding skin. The hairs are then placed and grouped in natural orientation.
Our surgeons have trained with some of the best in this field at the internationally known Talizi Clinic in Georgia. We have experience in all the latest advances and techniques of hair restoration in both men and women from Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Long Hair Transplant (the only one in Europe to carry out this procedure) as well as eyebrow and eyelash transplants.
Patients are able to return to work a couple of days after hair transplant surgery with a full recovery expected after three or four days. Hair will grow back enough after a week to cover where transplants were taken from, with scabbing falling off seven to ten days after treatment.
