Along with your hands and décolleté, the neck visibly shows the signs of ageing. A neck lift is a surgical procedure which aims to improve the appearance of the skin and create more definition by contouring the areas around your jawline and ear.

A neck lift is a procedure carried out to remove any loose skin along the neck and jaw. It involves removing fat, tightening the skin and pulling the skin upwards into the angle between the chin and neck to recreate a youthful neckline. The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic. For optimum results, a neck lift may be combined with other procedures such as liposuction and/or a lower face lift. Liposuction would help to remove the fatty tissue contributing to the appearance of a ‘turkey neck’ or double chin.

After the operation you will be required to stay for one night so we can monitor your progress. There is usually a little bruising which normally goes after about ten days and all stitches are removed by in the coming weeks after the operation. Pain is minimal but you may feel slight discomfort due to the tightness of the skin.

As with all surgical procedures, there is an element of risk. At the McIndoe Centre we do everything we can to minimise chance of complications. Your surgeon will talk to you about any possible specific complications before you decide to have your operation.
