Q1. What happens to our eyes as we get older?

A. Inside the eye's intricate system is a natural lens, which is responsible for focusing light onto the retina, and this allows us to see clearly. When we're younger, this lens is flexible, so, it comfortably allows us to see distance at near and at intermediate. But with time, this lens becomes stiffer and less clear. So, you may notice that you're requiring more light to read and colours may not be as vivid.

Q2. How do you choose the right lens for cataract surgery?

A. One of the most important parts before embarking on surgery is to pick the right intraocular lens for you. There are different types of intraocular lenses available, which include lenses that are set for one distance, or lenses that give you an increased range of vision, or full range of vision. The decision as to which lens is best suited for you is gauged on your lifestyle, your hobbies, and your occupational requirements. We use advanced diagnostics to ensure that your eyes are suitable for the right type of intraocular lens.

Q3. What can I expect from cataract surgery?

A. The treatment for cataract surgery is to replace the aging lens. This involves fine instrumentation, which is deployed through small incisions, and the lens is delicately removed in a fifteen-to-twenty-minute procedure. You're able to go home the same day.

Q4. What is recovery like after cataract surgery?

A. Visual recovery after lens surgery is very rapid, with patients seeing the same day or the next day. The fine tuning of your vision takes a little longer, which can take up to four weeks. But we give you drops for a short period of time and make sure that you have regular follow ups to ensure that your postoperative recovery is optimised.
