Isla* | Women’s Health Check

Patient Story: Isla*

Isla* had been searching for a general health assessment for some time until she came across the Women’s Health Check at The McIndoe Centre. Here she explains how the service left her feeling valued, heard, and reassured about her health.

Isla explains: “I had been looking for a general health check-up for some time, but the NHS doesn’t offer that kind of service. My daughter and I did some research to see what options were available, and that’s when we came across The McIndoe Centre. It looked perfect—it offered exactly what I was looking for—so I booked it straight away.

“The response was swift, and I was able to see Dr Victoria Fielding really quickly. On the day of my appointment, I first met with the team who carried out the initial assessment. They were fantastic—friendly, approachable, and very understanding. There was also someone shadowing them, which didn’t bother me at all.

“Everything was straightforward, including the blood test, which was painless. I didn’t have to wait long before I was called in to see Dr Fielding, who was incredibly helpful and reassuring.

“She took the time to explain everything clearly, making sure I understood what I needed to do next. It didn’t feel like a box-ticking exercise - she genuinely listened to me and addressed all my concerns without brushing anything aside.

“After my consultation, they followed up exactly as they had promised. A letter was sent to my GP, and I had a follow-up appointment with Dr Emma Sloan. Again, it was a really reassuring experience. I felt like I was in safe hands throughout.

“One of the most helpful parts of the process was receiving the Individual Patient Report (IPR). “It was so easy to read—everything was written in layman’s terms, making it simple to understand. It was informative, helpful, and gave me peace of mind.

“Both doctors actively listened to me, and I never felt rushed or dismissed. It was a really positive experience from start to finish.”

Isla noted that she left feeling valued, heard, and reassured about her health.
