Early Detection Could Save Your Life. Take Control Today.

Why Choose A Private Bowel Screening At The McIndoe Centre?

An at-home Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) Test is a test that looks for blood in a sample of your stool. It detects microscopic amounts of blood that aren't visible to the eye, which can be an early marker of bowel cancer or other conditions.

Our FIT test makes it easier than ever to screen discreetly, quickly, and accurately.

What to expect from a FIT Test?

You’ll receive a home Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kit with everything you need to collect a small stool sample in the privacy of your own home. Clear, step-by-step instructions are included to make the process simple and stress-free.

Once you've collected your sample, you’ll place it in the secure, pre-paid return envelope and send it to our accredited UK lab for analysis.

Your results are carefully reviewed by a registered Women's Health Specialist GP. If anything unusual is detected, a follow-up phone consultation will be arranged to discuss the findings and next steps.

If further investigation is recommended, the GP can provide a referral to the appropriate service.

All of this is included for just £79 — with no need for a GP referral or clinic visit. It's a fast, private and proactive way to take charge of your health.

This test is ideal if:

  • You’re aged 40+ and want peace of mind

Symptoms of Bowel Cancer

Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, is cancer that occurs anywhere in the rectum or the large intestine (colon).

Symptoms can include:

  • Blood in stool
  • Bleeding from the rectum
  • Change in bowel habit (constipation, diarrhoea)
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Pain or swelling in the stomach

Understanding Your Results

FIT Positive

If your test detects traces of blood in your stool, this is known as a positive FIT result.

It’s important to remember that this does not mean you have cancer. Blood in the stool can be caused by a number of conditions.

In most cases, our doctor will refer you for a follow-up test to examine the inside of your bowel. This is usually a colonoscopy, which allows specialists to identify the cause and take further action if needed.

FIT Negative

A negative FIT result means no blood was detected in your stool at the time of testing.

For most people, this is a reassuring result. However, if your symptoms persist, change, or worsen, it’s essential to follow up with your GP. Further testing may be needed to rule out other causes or detect changes over time.
