Professional profile

Mr Blackburn is a UK trained Consultant Plastic Surgeon with extensive experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He studied for his MB BS at Imperial College London and graduated with a Distinction in 1999.

Adam was also awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Plastic Surgery, FRCS (Plast) and is on the GMC’s Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.

Mr Blackburn undertook a distinguished period of training at Wexham Park, St George’s, Charing Cross and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals before moving to the North East of England to complete his higher surgical training.

In 2011, Adam returned to London having attained the esteemed post of Microsurgical Fellow at St Thomas’ Hospital. Here he spent fifteen months honing his expertise in microsurgical breast reconstruction, perineal reconstruction and chest wall reconstruction.

As well as working at The McIndoe Centre, Mr Blackburn is a substantive consultant at the world-renowned (for plastic surgery) Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. Here he specialises in microsurgical breast reconstruction, skin cancer treatment, burns reconstruction and paediatric plastic surgery including prominent ear corrections.

Mr Blackburn enjoys his work and has many happy patients. He understands the importance of listening to patients in order to find out exactly what they desire before committing to surgery. In 2008 he wrote a scientific paper on the importance of listening to patients and understanding their concerns in cosmetic surgery before operating. This won the prize for the best paper on the subject of cosmetic surgery and was published in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery that year.
