Professional profile
Deniz Hassan is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Lead for the Plastic Surgery Mohs Service at Queen Victoria Hospital. He specialises in Mohs surgery and reconstruction for facial skin cancers, particularly around the eyelids, nose, lips and ears.
After graduating from UCL Medical School and completing specialist training in plastic surgery, he undertook a dedicated Mohs fellowship in Mersey. His dual training combines precise tumour removal with reconstructive and aesthetic expertise, allowing him to provide both Mohs surgery and reconstruction, with continuity of care from a single surgeon.
His approach emphasises preserving healthy tissue, restoring facial form and function, and helping patients retain their familiar appearance. He places particular importance on gentle surgery, clear communication and attentive follow-up throughout recovery.
He has a particular interest in teaching plastic surgery registrars how to approach complex skin cancers, with an emphasis on clinical judgement and decision-making throughout the patient journey. This includes diagnosis, selecting the most appropriate treatment, planning tumour excision and reconstruction, and guiding follow-up care. His teaching encourages trainees to consider each patient’s priorities alongside the clinical findings, recognising that thoughtful planning and ongoing care are integral to both the surgical outcome and the patient’s experience.
