Mr Rikki Sunil Mistry is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon specialising in hand, wrist and skin surgery. He has particular expertise in the treatment of hand conditions, trauma and reconstructive procedures, with a strong focus on restoring both function and appearance while achieving the best possible cosmetic outcomes.
Mr Mistry graduated from the University of Dundee Medical School in 2004, where he was awarded the prestigious American Graduates Prize. He also completed an intercalated degree in Orthopaedic Technology, developing an early interest in surgical innovation and reconstructive techniques.
He undertook higher specialist training in Plastic Surgery across several leading UK centres including St Thomas’, the Royal Free, Chelsea and Westminster, St George’s and Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plast) in 2020 and subsequently completed an advanced Hand Surgery Fellowship at St Thomas’. In addition, he completed the prestigious Aesthetic Fellowship here at The McIndoe Centre.
Mr Mistry was appointed Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Queen Victoria Hospital in 2021, where he also serves as Clinical Lead for Trauma. His practice includes the treatment of hand and wrist conditions such as arthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, carpal tunnel, nerve compression syndromes and tendon injuries, as well as skin surgery and reconstructive procedures.
He has a particular interest in techniques that minimise scarring and optimise aesthetic outcomes, ensuring patients achieve the best possible functional and cosmetic results. He has removed over 5000 facial skin cancers in the past few years and expertly applies these techniques regularly to minimise scarring.
Mr Mistry has also completed training at the world’s only certified Hand Rejuvenation course, providing advanced techniques to restore a more youthful appearance to ageing hands.
Alongside his clinical work in the UK, Mr Mistry undertakes annual humanitarian surgical work in The Gambia with Sussex based charity GamMed, performing complex reconstructive procedures to restore normal form and function for patients with severe injuries and deformities.
Mr Mistry is committed to delivering personalised, patient-centred care and uses modern surgical techniques to help patients return to normal activities as quickly as possible.
