Professional profile

Martin graduated as a doctor from University College London and Middlesex School of Medicine in 1993. Whilst he was there as a medical student, he obtained an intercalated BSc from the same institution with First Class Honours in Anatomy and Neuroscience. He then went on to complete his general surgical training at St George’s Hospital in London.

At the start of his plastic surgery training, Martin undertook research for his doctoral thesis at the RAFT Institute for Plastic Surgical Research. He developed his plastic surgical skills whilst working as a registrar at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, The Royal Free in London and Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.

Towards the end of his training, Martin was selected to complete three fellowships. These included a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at The Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney Australia, an Aesthetic Fellowship at The McIndoe Centre in East Grinstead and a Microsurgical Fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital.

Martin became a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Queen Victoria Hospital in 2006 and places extreme importance on putting his clients at ease from their very first consultation and will tailor his consultation to meet their needs.

His meticulous attention to detail combines his surgical passions with his artistic flair and he has an aptitude for drawing and photography. During a patient consultation, Martin draws a step-by-step diagram of the procedure with detailed explanation which patients can keep for their own record.

His other passions include snowboarding and skiing, racing around a track in his lotus and the recent addition of his motorbike. He is married with two grown-up children, still lives locally and prides himself on being a local man.
