Lip enhancement can be used to fight the visible effects of ageing and make thin lips appear much fuller. The procedure can be used to give new definition to the lips, restore youthful fullness, and provide a much plumper pout.
What are the benefits of lip enhancement?
Some of the benefits of lip enhancement include:
- Fighting visible signs of ageing
- Enhancing natural beauty
- Fuller, healthier looking lips
- What does lip enhancement involve?
During a lip enhancement procedure, fillers are injected into the lips after a local anaesthetic is administered. The fillers are comprised of a thin strip of fat and dermis (the lower level of skin) taken from the abdomen. This is then glided onto the lip through two tiny incisions. Sutures will be used to close the wound – these may need to be removed in 7-10 days if they are not naturally dissolving sutures.
Lip enhancements are carried out in our outpatient's department and usually take 45-90 minutes. Depending on the type of filler used, you can expect the results to last six to nine months.
Specific complications of lip enhancement include:
- Excessive swelling
- Bruising or bleeding
- Increased risk of sunburn in affected areas
- Recovery Time
The lip will look swollen following surgery, but the swelling should go down over 48-72 hours as the anaesthetic wears off and some of the fat is absorbed.
The cost of lip enhancement varies depending on your unique case and individual requirements. The cost of your treatment will be explained to you in full during your initial consultation.
