Professional profile

Mr Kumar is a fully certified Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon. Mr Kumar offers a full spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive treatments. He has extensive experience in all aspects of cosmetic surgery including breast surgery, facial rejuvenation and body contouring, as well as non-surgical procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers and lasers. His nationally appointed cosmetic fellowship gave him the opportunity to be trained by the most eminent aesthetic surgeons in the field.

His NHS practice is based at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, where he specialises in skin cancer. During his nationally appointed skin cancer fellowship, he trained in sentinel node biopsy and the surgical management of patients with advanced melanoma. He is also the medical ambassador for the Melanoma Fund UK and is actively involved in promoting public health awareness regarding the prevention of skin cancer. In addition to clinical work, he is also the clinical lead for research and development for the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Unit (MASCU).

Mr Kumar grew up in the South East of England, and went on to study Medicine at Newcastle University where he graduated with Honours in 2005. He undertook broad and varied surgical training in the North, and later completed three highly competitive, nationally awarded Interface Fellowships in trauma, skin cancer and cosmetic surgery.

His specialty training also took him for advanced microsurgery training at the internationally renowned Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, India. As a result of this, he later became one of the founder members of the North-East Microsurgery Course which continues to train future generations of microsurgeons.

He achieved the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery in 2013 and was initially appointed in a Consultant post at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle specialising in breast surgery, before returning to the South East.
