Sam Orkar has been on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery since 2009 and is a full member of The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). He has obtained the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) Cosmetic Surgery Certification in all areas of plastic Surgery. Sam Orkar’s expertise and experience includes all aspects of breast surgery, body contouring surgery and facial surgery. He performs mummy makeovers, breast implants, uplifts and reductions and congenital breast asymmetry including tuberous breasts and fat grafting. He also performs all the procedures related to body contouring post weight loss including apronectomy, abdominoplasty, liposuction, body lift, thigh lift, breast uplift and breast uplift with implants, surgery for ‘man boobs’ and arm reduction. In addition, he performs facelifts, eyelid reduction surgery, microfat and nanofat grafting to the face.
Sam’s private practice also covers breast reconstruction including DIEP flaps and all aspects of skin cancer surgery including melanoma and sentinel node biopsy. He believes in offering his patients sound advice that helps them make informed choices. He sees the consultation as key to this and therefore sets his patients and clients at ease for a frank and open discussion from the outset. Sam further believes in achieving excellence in simplicity using a thoughtful application of appropriate surgical techniques and attention to details. He also has a great smile and a hearty laugh.
Sam Orkar qualified from the University of Jos, Nigeria, as best graduating student of his set. He trained and worked as a consultant general and plastic surgeon in Nigeria. He undertook further training at the following renowned plastic surgery units in the UK: The Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, Glasgow; St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, Broomfield Hospital Chelmsford; The Queen Victoria Hospital and McIndoe Surgical Centre, both in East Grinstead. He completed fellowships in cosmetic surgery, breast and microsurgery and Hand Surgery. He holds an NHS consultant post at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, where he is currently the Clinical Director for Plastic Surgery, Burns and Trauma.
