Professional profile

Baljit is a UK trained Consultant Plastic Surgeon having graduated from King’s College School of Medicine in 1990. He has been a consultant since 2003 and has over 28 years of experience in the field of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.

Baljit has had varied and intensive training in all aspects of plastic surgery to enable him to help his patients achieve the best possible results from surgery. He has worked in a number of prestigious plastic surgery units. These include Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, Great Ormond Street Hospital, St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery in Chelmsford, St Thomas’ Hospital and St George’s Hospital. During this time, he also conducted research in biomaterials at the Phoenix Tissue Repair Unit at University College London.

In his private practice, Baljit covers all areas of cosmetic surgery including breast surgery, facial surgery, body contour surgery, liposuction and abdominoplasty. Baljit enjoys every aspect of plastic surgery and works hard to ensure that his patients achieve their aims through careful assessment, individualising treatment and personalised follow-up care. Whenever someone is considering surgery, it is important for them to know that they will be listened to, have a clear understanding of what is possible and also trust their surgeon to guide them from assessment to surgery to discharge safely and easily. Baljit aims to do this for every one of his patients.

As well as working at The McIndoe Centre, Baljit works at the world-renowned Queen Victoria Hospital, just opposite McIndoe. Here he works in the world-renowned Burns Centre and helps lead the multi-disciplinary team that looks after all burns patients. Along with his colleagues he manages all acute burn injuries as well as the reconstruction of burns patients after they have healed. These complex reconstructions add to his experience in being able to manage any cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure to give the most aesthetic, natural result. In addition, Baljit has set up a specialised scar treatment clinic and also looks after patients with skin cancer, children’s plastic surgery and those with complex wound problems.

As well as being highly experienced, Baljit is very widely published. His portfolio is extensive having published in both clinical and scientific journals on areas of translational science, burns, plastic and cosmetic surgery. He has been Chair of the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation, and a member of the research council of the Scar Free Foundation and British Burns Association Research Group. He has led research and clinical trials in the field of biomaterials, burns treatment and scarring. On top of this, Baljit takes an active role in the training of plastic surgeons and works hard to develop their skills as he understands the importance of producing the next generation of plastic surgeons. He is currently an examiner for the FRCS (Plast) exam, the final exam many surgeons pass before being considered for the specialist register in plastic surgery.

Patient Testimonial

"During my school life I got up to nearly 19 stone in weight at a very young age, I took it upon myself to lose weight and I’m now around 12 stone, unfortunately, this has caused me to have a lot of excess skin, and has left me with fully formed boobs."

Haydn had the surgery to remove his "man boobs" with Mr Dheansa and is a changed young man, brimming with confidence and looking forward to life.
