Professional profile

Mr Teo graduated in medicine from the University of Aberdeen in 1982, where he was awarded a distinction in anatomy and surgery. At Harvard University in Boston, USA, his post-doctoral thesis on burn injuries was awarded the Cash Medal for the best thesis. He initially trained for eight years in general surgery in the Aberdeen Hospitals, after which he completed another eight years of plastic surgery training in a number of centres, including St Thomas’ Hospital in London and The Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.

He completed several fellowships with world famous and revolutionary plastic surgeons such as J. Mustarde in Ghana, M. Tonkin in Australia and F.C. Wei in Taiwan. This extensive and extremely broad training has helped to develop Mr Teo’s human, medical and surgical skills which enable him to face to the most difficult cases in any field of plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Since 1998, he has worked as a consultant at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, where he performs a wide range of plastic surgery operations and trains many future plastic surgeons.

Mr Teo has a particular interest in surgical aesthetic rejuvenation of the face, breast and body as well as reconstructive surgery of the head and neck region, breasts, upper and lower limbs. In his NHS and private practice Mr Teo treats patients referred from around the UK and from all over the world. His philosophy is to place each patient’s wellbeing at the centre of his care, from the first clinic meeting to the final aftercare. He will use his extensive experience and surgical skills to get the very best result for each and every patient.

Mr Teo has published many scientific books and papers and is in great demand as a speaker at international meetings. He has been invited as a visiting Professor to lecture and operate at a number of centres in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Romania, Croatia, Russia, Brazil, India, Malaysia, Malawi, Canada and Japan. He is a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPRAS), the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, The Asia Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand, the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM), the European Workshop of Advanced Plastic Surgery (EWAPS) and is the founding president of the Pyrenean Workshop.
